My First Blog Post EVER

Let’s Be Real Here

Hey girl hey! Welcome to my blog and first ever blog post! The butterflies in my stomach right now as I’m writing this are UNREAL. Within the last six months I have watched myself transform from a complacent girl into a motivated, driven, and confident woman.

I want to start off by saying thank you for being here, it means the world to me. It’s crazy that I’m finally doing this, but I’m so excited to create content for you here. All the positive feedback I get from you all is what has gotten me to where I am today, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. I’m writing this blog post to give you a glimpse of who I am and what drives me to do what I do.

I’m very proud of the woman I am becoming. Creating a blog and becoming a personal stylist has been something I’ve always wanted to do because it allows me to be myself and help others along the way. I’ve always been way too nervous to actually get to it, though. In the back of my mind, I feel like I can hear others laughing and gossiping about me and the posts that I make. I see myself failing at writing good content, and I see someone either not caring or thinking the idea of it all is silly. Because of that, I plan to be as real and as upfront with you guys as possible because we’re all human and have insecurities and embarrassing moments. We all make mistakes, and not a single one of us is perfect even though we all try to put up a front to make others think we are. I am here for you, and I promise to keep it real!

When I was in second grade I was tested for Dyslexia and a learning disability. Going into third grade, I was eligible for an IEP (individualized education plan). This allowed me to have tests read to me and extra time on assignments. Third grade through high school was a very difficult time for me education-wise. I struggled with test taking, math, reading, and more. Although I had incredible parents who didn’t let me feel sorry for myself, it has been an insecurity that I’ve carried with me through the years. As I’ve gotten older, though, I’ve learned how to deal with it a lot better. Those close to me know that creating a blog and starting my own stylist gig is a huge stepping stone in my career. In this blog, I look forward to giving you all of the positive and helpful tips I’ve had the pleasure of learning. I look forward to talking about fun topics that will range from style, beauty, home, and lifestyle, to recipes, vacations, holidays, and much more!

I’m from the suburbs of Chicago, IL, in the Naperville/Aurora area. I lived in Naperville for the first six years of my life before my family moved to Aurora, where me, my brother and sister (Brad and Emma) grew up. My parents raised the three of us to be kind, independent, hardworking, and motivated.

When I graduated high school, I was taking classes at a community college and began working for a small clothing boutique in my town where I sold prom dresses and regular boutique clothes. It was so much fun! I learned all about customer service, the buying process, and the seller process. I learned everything I know about fashion and clothes, and working there has played a huge part in leading me to where I am today.

About a year later, I applied for an internship with Walt Disney World, and I got accepted into the Disney College Program where I spent about seven months living in Orlando, Florida, as a character performer. Guys… it was SO MAGICAL! I don’t say that to be “punny”, but only because it’s the truth! I came home after and continued to work at the boutique. I ended up becoming full-time and decided to stop going to school. About three years later I moved on to work for Target as a Visual Merchandiser and a Team Lead. In the middle of my time with Target, I transferred from my store in Illinois to a Target in California to go live with my husband, Bill, who was serving in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Camp Pendleton, which is about an hour north of San Diego! Towards my second year with Target, I felt like I wasn’t living up to my full potential. I missed helping customers with fashion needs. When you’re working at a large corporate business such as Target, there isn’t time in the day to stop and help a customer pick out an outfit for their first date or to be creative and come up with cute looks to show moms walking in who are helpless with what to buy. I decided to leave Target at the same time my husband finished his four years in the Marine Corps.

When we moved back from California, I got two jobs. One was at a bridal shop called Jasmine Galleria, and the other was at OrangeTheory Fitness! I actually bought my wedding dress at Jasmine’s back in 2017 before I worked there, and I have been working out at OTF for a year and a half. While I’m thankful for those opportunities, I’m so excited to have this time to grow my passion and be here to start my new journey.

I am in love with where my LIKETOKNOW.it page has taken me, and I’m excited to see where this blog will take me. I started my love for style and fashion when I was eighteen years old working at the small business boutique, Bella-Gia! I gained so much of my knowledge there, and I’m lucky for all of the opportunities that I’ve been given in my life because they’ve all led me here. I love finding the best products, my favorite looks, and coming up with tips on all the things I’ve learned in my life so that I can share them all with you. Thank you for coming along with me on this adventure, and I look forward to being there for you and helping you! Thank you to all my followers and to the ones who have believed in me and who have helped make this possible. Thank you to my friends and family for pushing me out of my comfort zone to try something new. Thank you to my husband for being my photographer and also my editor. Without every single one of you this DREAM wouldn’t be a reality! THANK YOU!
